The Fresh Sushi Bar is a true highlight here—customers often rave about the sushi rolls, especially the California Roll and creative combinations that balance fresh fish with just the right amount of rice. For seafood lovers, the steamed clams, Dungeness crab, baked salmon, and octopus salad serve up rich flavors that celebrate the sea’s bounty with tenderness and freshness.

The Chinese food section delivers beloved classics such as Mongolian beef, buttered shrimp, and the perfectly seasoned peppered chicken with green beans and broccoli, all prepared with a savory touch that’s both authentic and approachable. And don’t forget the salad bar and fresh fruit selections, offering light and refreshing options to complement the heartier dishes.

Dessert at Ichiban Buffet truly transports you—imagine indulging in mint chip ice cream, an assortment of cookies and cakes, or cracking open a fortune cookie that adds a bit of fun to your meal’s finale. Though the building itself might show signs of age, as mentioned by Lourdes Bicknell, the quality and breadth of food more than compensate, inviting diners to focus on the feast before them.

To complement the feast, Ichiban Buffet offers a thoughtfully curated beverage menu. Enjoy imported beers like Tsingtao and Kirin Ichiban, or unwind with a glass of wine—Merlot, Chardonnay, or even Sake—to enhance your dining experience. With prices that keep your wallet happy and portions that satisfy even the heartiest appetites, Ichiban Buffet provides a welcoming, flavorful journey into Asian and seafood cuisine right in the heart of St. Augustine.

My father in law turned another year older (don’t ask how many cake slices he had, the number is classified) and celebrated at Ichiban Buffet in Saint Augustine. First off, the variety vs. price ratio is wild. You pay one entry ticket, and suddenly you’re in a world where Chinese dishes never end, sushi rolls keep appearing right in front of you like magic tricks, and the dessert bar looks like it belongs in a Willy Wonka spinoff. I may or may not have had cheesecake and cotton candy ice cream in the same round. (Birthday rules: calories don’t count.) The place was packed like ‘Black Friday sale for egg rolls’ packed but somehow it stayed super clean and organized. Tables got cleared faster than I could pile up lo mein, and nothing ever looked messy. Big props to the staff for keeping the buffet lanes stocked and shiny even with a crowd that eats like it’s their last meal. Now, why not 5 stars? Well, because if it was five, I’d probably still be there, living under the chocolate fountain. Four stars means I loved it, I’ll definitely be back, but I can still walk out of the building without being rolled out on a dessert cart. Bottom line: Ichiban Buffet = Best birthday playground for your taste buds. Just bring stretchy pants!"

Review back on Nov28 '25. Of all the places ive been on buffets that have sushi, theirs is the best. For the reason that theres barely any rice on the rolls! I almost finished my plate before taking a photo lol

This buffet is a great selection! They have tables upon tables of food. Everything you could want honestly. The price is really good and they are constantly switching out the plates so it’s always fresh at dinner! The sushi I did not like however but its fine for buffet quality.

Very wide variety of food, with southern, sushi, and Chinese food. Some highlights were the crab bake, the chicken with broccoli, the wonton soup. They were also open on Thanksgiving and had turkey which is pretty cool. Also at only 19 per person it was a great value

PRICES Reasonable, food was good, services was ok as well , But the building some TLC as customer what I look for a clean restaurant is the outside and bathrooms as well . The building is old but with some clean windows and touch up paint will look decent, will Attract more customers .

Great buffet, big assortment of food. There's something for everyone. The hot food was fresh and hot, cold food was cold. Variety of sauces and dressings. The restaurant itself was very clean, bathroom also. Great price for a buffet.
